Zachary Payne is a violinist from King George county. He often works as a freelance musician throughout the region. Zach has had a genuine love and enthusiasm for music from a very young age. He grew up playing in many youth and community orchestras and chamber ensembles in the Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia area. He currently plays for the University of Mary Washington Philharmonic, the UMW string quartet, and the Payne quartet.

Zach studied at the University of Mary Washington where he completed a double major in music and computer science. He is a classically trained violinist who has studied with William Wassum, Dr. Laura Kobayashi, Ross Monroe Winter, and Kristen Presley. As an active member of the UMW Philharmonic, Zach has had opportunities to perform with Joshua Bell, Itzhak Perlman, Tony Bennet, and kristin Chenoweth. He is proficient in playing everything from classical repertoire, to jazz, rock, and folk tunes. He also enjoys working on and improving his improvisational skills on both the violin and piano.
